Baby Awake Windows & Routines

Establishing routines for babies plays an important role in their overall development and well-being. When you build a consistent routine, it can provide a sense of security and predictability for infants, It helps them navigate the world around them with greater confidence.

The feed, play, sleep routine is the baby routine that we follow. Depending on your baby's age, their day will look different and it will change as your baby grows and develops.

Understanding a baby's awake window

Another crucial part of their routine is understanding a baby's awake window. These are the periods when a baby is naturally alert and receptive, making it the right time for them to feed, play, and interact with you.

When you recognise and respect these windows, you can prevent overstimulation and overtiredness, which are common culprits for disrupted sleep.

Cues for sleep

At Tresillian, we know another important part of the baby sleep schedule is introducing cues for sleep. They allow you to help your baby know when it’s time for sleep, which not only can help them sleep for longer but can help lay the foundation for good sleep habits in the future.

Whether your baby is 3 to 5 months, 6 to 8 months or 9 to 12 months, their routine and awake window will be slightly different.
