Political Spotlight for Albury Wodonga Tresillian

The Tresillian early parenting service was thrust into the national political limelight in early June and came out with flying colours.

The Federal Deputy Leader of the Opposition the Hon Sussan Ley MP visited the Albury Wodonga Health Tresillian Family Care Centre located in the Victorian border town to be met by a professional, passionate and committed team.

The official visit enabled the former Federal Minister for Health and former Minister for the Environment the opportunity to hear how the service is making a positive impact in the community and supporting families throughout NSW, the ACT and Victoria.

Albury Wodonga Health Service Manager Julie Wright told the Shadow Minister for Women that the expertise of Tresillian’s specialist nurses in the early identification of risk of perinatal mood disorders complements the specialist knowledge of the perinatal psychologists and social workers, provides holistic accessible care for parents and their infants.

Albury Wodonga Health Tresillian Family Care Centre Nurse Unit Manager Angela James highlighted passionately the services provided for families including utilising a range of options of delivery and packages of care tailored to the unique needs of families such as home visits.

Angela stressed the service is evidenced-based and provided further insights into Tresillian on her tour with the Deputy Leader of the Opposition.

The visit included Albury Wodonga Health’s chief operating officer Emma Poland and its Special Care Nurse Brooke Ford who represented the key partner organisation delivering positive outcomes for parents through around 1000 occasions of care annually. 
“I was impressed by the quality of the service, the staff, and their clear dedication to the welfare of mothers and their babies,” a clearly impressed Deputy Leader of the Opposition said.

“I want to know what your asks are of Government. “We can keep across some of the Government’s measures in the Budget.”
The Federal Member for Farrer was updated on Tresillian’s Federal Budget asks and plans to expand.

Sussan Ley MP was impressed with the Tresillian 2U Mobile Vans and wanted to advocate for the expansion of the service. Her parting comment was: “I wish you all the best in the good work you do here.”
