Guidance for Parents

The arrival of a new baby and every stage of your child’s development is an exciting time, but it can be overwhelming.  That’s where Child and Family Wellbeing Hub, Grafton, can help.

Our Child and Family Health nurses can help make sense of your child’s crying, sleep, feeding and behaviour patterns.

Our aim is to help build a positive relationship between you and your child; giving you confidence and reassurance as you progress through your parenting journey.  If you feel you need to speak to someone about your own emotional wellbeing, ask about our counselling services.

For a referral to Child and Family Wellbeing Hub, talk to your GP or Child and Family Health Nurse or to self-refer, call the Tresillian’s Parent’s Help Line on 1300 272 736, open 7 days, 7am-11pm.

Telehealth Virtual and Face to Face consultations are available

Your Referral to Child and Wellbeing Hub

  1. Firstly, we’ll be in touch to arrange your appointment time. If a Virtual session is required we’ll email details on how to connect.
  2. On the day of your consultation, our friendly Nurses will take you to one of our private consultation rooms, set up with a cot and change table.
  3. The first appointment will usually take around two hours where a nurse will listen and work in partnership with you, to understand your family's needs and develop a plan and strategy.
  4. You’ll be encouraged to follow your child's lead throughout the consultation, so if they need to sleep or feed, our Nurse can help with advice.
  5. Follow up visits are usually shorter to see how you’ve been going at home. This may be in person, via 'phone or telehealth.

What our parents say
I phoned the Parent’s Help Line at a time of complete despair after so much sleeplessness with my 10 month old baby. I hesitated even phoning because I thought I'd tried everything. The nurse took the time to understand exactly what was going on and offered very detailed advice and information. Everything she said made perfect sense. She has offered me some really practical starting points, and routine examples to suit our baby. Had I not spoken to the Nurse I can only imagine my night would have spiraled into another crying mess (both me and the baby). I really can't thank Tresillian enough. It is such an incredible service.
