Can I book myself into Tresillian?
No, a referral is required from a health professional such as your doctor or Child and Family Health Nurse. Tresillian offers a range of services that provide direct clinical care. The type of service best suited to your needs is decided by a Tresillian Nurse in consultation with you, once your referring doctor or health professional has completed the necessary referral information. How is Tresillian funded?
While the majority of Tresillian’s funding comes from the NSW Ministry for Health we do rely on the generosity of the corporate sector and individual donors to assist us with special projects.
How much does it cost?
Clinical services in the Residential Units are covered by Medicare or the family’s private health fund. Parents pay a small accommodation and meals charge per day. Prior to admission you will be advised of the current rate. Tresillian’s Outreach and Day Stay services are free.
What age-group does Tresillian specialise in?
Our services specialise in caring for families with a baby, toddler or pre-schooler.
Are there similar services to Tresillian in other parts of Australia?
Yes, while Tresillian is based in New South Wales only, there are similar services interstate. For a full list, please consult our Family Care Centres page.
Does Tresillian run Parenting Groups?
Yes, parenting groups are facilitated by experienced staff (nurses, social workers and psychologists) at all Tresillian Centres. Parents in the community are welcome to register, along with those using our services. These programs are designed to improve family functioning and provide parenting information, to promote self-care and understanding of childhood development; and to enhance your relationship with your child. Tresillian also facilitates MyTime groups, which are support groups for parents and carers of children with a disability, developmental delay or chronic medical condition. A group leader runs each group and topics include Taking Care of Yourself, Getting the Right Support, Your Child’s Development and Play Ideas. Does Tresillian have a Long Day Care Centre?
Yes, Guthrie Child Care Centre is Tresillian’s community-based long day care service set amidst leafy gardens in Wollstonecraft, on Sydney’s lower north shore. The Centre is renowned for its excellent quality of care and innovative programs provided by a dedicated team of qualified and experienced staff. Guthrie Child Care Centre caters for 42 children per day and is open from 7.30am-5.30pm, Monday – Friday, 49 weeks of the year.
